O.C.’s coffee story begins in the early 1970s, in a ’63 Volkswagen van in Antigua, Guatemala. The driver is Martin Diedrich’s father, Carl. His passengers? The handpicked beans he’s hauling home to Costa Mesa. The aroma of these beans roasting in Carl’s garage stopped locals in their tracks back then, and eventually led Martin to found Diedrich Coffee.
